Motorola Droid and Droid 2 (DropNews) |
(via Pocketnow) |
Sprint has released the update from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2., Froyo (some people say it “fro-yo,” but I think that “froy-o” sounds way better) for the HTC Evo. The update for Verizon’s Grandfather android device, the Motorola Droid, has also been floating around. Due to the fact that I have a Hero and HTC has already explained that no 2.2 update will be released for it, I am sort of jealous. I’ve only had the phone for 3 months! That’s okay though, I love my Hero . Speaking for the Evo, it’s an OTA (over the air) update, so you won’t have to hook your Evo up to the computer. Thank goodness for technology right!? Some of the following features that the update to Android 2.2 are:
It’s good to see that Google is pushing for all possible Android devices to have 2.2 and above. The latest numbers, before the updates for the Evo and Hero, are as follows:

I’ve always wondered how this worked, but never actually had to worry about it until I procured my new Dell Studio Laptop, as mentioned in my previous post. On my old laptop I had always kept a running backup of everything so that I could transfer it over to a new system whenever I got one—boy was I wrong! Microsoft has made it incredibly easy with their built in tool called “Windows Easy Transfer.” I followed these simple steps:
On Your Old Computer
*only works for Windows 2000, XP, Vista & 7
On Your New Computer
*click here for an example video
This process was a lot simpler than I thought it’d be. It doesn’t erase anything from your old computer and the process is fairly fast. I used an external hard drive to do my transfer and it took about an hour to transfer 30GB over USB (my old and new laptop both have Windows 7 on them). All of your settings from your previous computer are saved, including the location of your documents and anything else you have saved on your user account. The only thing it doesn’t do is transfer your programs over. However, a windows transfer report is generated, showing you what programs are already on the new computer and what programs still need to be installed.
I hope your transfer goes as smoothly as mine did. Leave me a comment and let me know how yours went!
I didn’t necessarily need a new laptop because the one I have is just fine, but like all tech heads when you see a good deal…well you can’t pass it up right? A co-worker of mine is hoping aboard the black and white ship known as Apple and therefore decided to sell his Dell Studio Laptop 1537. I’ve only been on it for two days but I can already tell you that this thing is a CHAMP! The screen is almost twice as bright as my last laptop. In fact, it’s so bright that I only have the brightness turned up halfway. Otherwise it looks like I’m constantly stepping into the light! Oh and speaking of light, the keyboard on this bad boy lights up. Yeah that’s right, it lights up! How often do you see that on a laptop ‘ey?
Big ups to CLive for providing me with this laptop. He’s quite the artist too! I’d put a link but he moved his Blogspot without telling people…smh…
I’ve been waiting for this feature from Google for a long time. Yeah, the other lab features such the forgotten attachment detector are fine, but this newly rolled out feature should have been implemented years ago. I guess it’s better late than never though. All you need to do is drag and drop your prospective files from one window to the e-mail and you’re good to go!
Unfortunately it only works with Firefox and Google Chrome. Find more info about it at Google’s Blog.
And I KNOW ya’ll like signature I have ;-) It's courtesy of WiseStamp, a Firefox Add on. It adds HTML signatures to e-mail services such as Gmail, Thunderbird and Hotmail/Windows Live. My less formal signature features my Xbox 360 Avatar.
It looks like Firefox, uses parts of Firefox, uses all of your add-ons that you already have installed on Firefox…but it’s not Firefox. It’s called The Pale Moon Project. Pale Moon is “custom-built and optimized Firefox browsers for Windows Operating Systems (pale moon project homepage).” The site also claims that the browser is 25% faster than Firefox. Now I LOVE my Firefox and didn’t want to get rid of it, which is why I haven’t switched to Google Chrome. After installing Pale Moon I did experience a noticeable speed increase in the loading of web pages. The browser looks exactly like my Firefox browser, including all 40+ add-ons I had installed in it. However, my favorite improvement that I have found revolves around playing videos (especially Flash videos). I’m not the only Firefox user who has experienced Flash videos stuttering every 3 seconds or so. It even happens to those with an absurd amount memory. When playing Flash videos on Pale Moon I experience little to skipping in Flash videos and they also load faster. For those of you who don’t want to part with Firefox, I highly recommend that you give Pale Moon a try. After installing it yesterday, I don’t even open Firefox anymore.
